It doesn't matter whether you are raising money, recruiting a new employee, or talking to customers, getting your message across fast is critical.

Read the video transcript below:
Okay you know since I started coaching entrepreneurs, one of the most pleasant surprises to me is that almost all of the ideas that I've seen have been really unique and really differentiated. That's been a big surprise.
I was really, truly expecting a lot more "me too" ideas. Now I really haven't seen that. That's the good news.
So how do you stand out from your competition? It probably isn't the idea, but what I have seen that's been a big, big issue for many of the entrepreneurs that I've worked with and talked to is the expression of the idea. How do you communicate how you're better, how you're unique, how you're different, and how you do it in a quick and succinct way.
That's where I've seen most of the entrepreneurs that I've worked with fall down. And that's where I've spent a lot of the time that I have working with them is how do you improve your messaging?
How do you get your point across really quickly to people that you are unique because you don't have much time.
You have maybe seven seconds. That's it. So how do you do it in seven quick seconds? Let me demonstrate you.
Number one, you tell them what you do very quickly. And then what do you do in the second three or four seconds that you have? You tell them how you're unique in a meaningful way.
That's it. And you have that seven seconds to do it. So those statements, they have to be one second. Excuse me, one sentence statements. That's it.
You've got one sentence to say, this is what you do.
So in my case, what do I do? I'm a CEO coach. That's it. That's all I have to tell people. That's what I do.
And how am I different? Because I've got hands on experience that's going to let you grow your business faster. That's it. That's all you need to do.
You need to make that statement instantly obvious to your potential customers so they know why they're working with you.
That's all you need to do. That's how you differentiate yourself. It typically isn't the idea because most of you have really good ideas.
It's the communication of the idea is where you need to get better. I'm Brett at brettjfox.com. Have a great, great day.
